Description
Idaho, south-central, Textures and forms carved into basalt over a ten thousand year time span by the Big Wood River.
Geologists estimate that it took ten thousand years for the river to carve these unique rock sculptures into the volcanic basalt in south-central Idaho. The sculpted forms resemble sandstone formations in the slot canyons of the southwest but are unique in shape due to the hardness of the volcanic stone.
