The less traveled north end of the Lost River Mountains in central Idaho is an area of expanse, gemstones, deep canyons, and rugged peaks. Antelope graze on the steep slopes where several thousand years ago, native Americans left evidence of their skills in the form of lithic scatter, a surface scatter of chipped stone debris left over from tool making. Piles of sharp-edged agate and jasper reveal where perhaps three thousand years ago an individual sat and fashioned an arrowhead or scraper in anticipation of the hunt.
