Description
California, northern, Most of the photography work done at Mono Lake in northern California includes the "tufa" formations reflecting in the lake water. At about 3 feet high, these more delicate and intricate structures are found some distance away from shore and a little exploration is needed to find them. One more of the sand tufa formations on the shores of Mono Lake. The sand tufa formations are the result of softer soil haven been eroded away leaving these intricate patterns. Whereas the larger counterparts are carbonate rock formed underwater as chemicals from the ground seep up and seem to grow a bit as coral does in an ocean environment. Professional nature and landscape photography designed for wall art. Created by Leland D Howard.
