Description
Oregon, south-east, Elk Creek Falls in the Siskiyou National Forest
Elk Creek Falls is one of those remote waterfalls in the Siskiyou National Forest of south-east Oregon. It's in the area called Big Tree Park, so named because of the number of giant conifers including Myrtle, Douglas Fir, and Western Hemlock and the "Big Tree". Said to be the largest Port Orford Cedar in the World, it stands at 219 feet tall and is over 12 feet in diameter. The park trail winds its way through groves of these amazing old growth forests. The waterfall isn't as dramatic in autumn but to me still has very nice appeal.
